Values Over Vision Boards: A Venus–Neptune Reality Check

What you value is what you manifest.

So this Venus and Neptune square coming up on Tuesday, the 23rd, is a powerful little portal between two allies in the zodiac. Venus, who is obsessed with values, and Neptune, who rules all illusion.

Venus, astrologically, is the planet that governs love, relationships, and most importantly—your values. It’s often linked to beauty and desire, but at its core, Venus is what we cherish, what we’re drawn to, and what we magnetize. Neptune, by contrast, dissolves boundaries. It governs dreams, spirituality, mysticism, but also deception and confusion.

When these two connect in a square, a tense, 90-degree aspect, it can feel like our heart is chasing a mirage.

And what this alignment is saying, when I sit with it and process it through my soul, is that it’s very easy to believe (or maybe we want to believe) that manifestation is about what you think, what you feel, what you focus on (intend).

But manifestation isn’t a surface-level practice.

It is literally a soul-level agreement.

When I saw Venus squaring Neptune, and kind of snuck in to listen to their conversation, what became very clear was this: what you manifest is an extension of what you value.

And if you haven’t chosen your values consciously, they will run your life unconsciously.

In astrology, Neptune rules Pisces and the 12th house—the domain of dreams, spirituality, and the unconscious. This means we’re often unaware of the illusions we hold. We can see other people's illusions just fine, but our own, we don't. And since pointing out people's illusions usually lands us under the attack of the Ego, most of us avoid pointing these things out. Keep that in mind, no one actually wants the job of popping your illusion bubble.

Yet, as I said not too long ago, not all illusions are bad. Some illusions deeply serve us. Some illusions are incredible. There is magic hidden there.

So the question isn’t “illusion or no illusion.” The question is, "Do you know your value so specifically that it is magnetic AF?"

And how do you know if it’s actually yours, or something you absorbed from family, culture, or survival?

I’m going to go out on a limb here.

If one of your values is something everybody else has listed as a value, there’s probably a universal framework there — something meant to get you started. If it is just the same old laundry list of valuing family and health, that isn't unique to your soul.

And soul values have manifestational power, and they are specific AF. 

Real values are scrappy as hell. You would say:

"This is what my soul is about."
"This is what I fight for."
"This is what I die for."
"This is not leaving me."

There’s no shame in holding collective archetypes or borrowed values. That’s how we learn. That’s how we grow. We are raised from infancy of consciousness — we have to borrow before we can break the cycle and make our own. BUT, it is up to you to make things your own. No one else can do it for you.
