This week, there is tension in the cosmos: Mercury, the planet of communication, versus Mars, the planet of action.
Bringing to the forefront one question: What if what’s being asked of you right now costs more than you realize?
When Mercury squares Mars this Friday, the tension is around the gap between what is being communicated and what it actually takes to do it.
Mercury is retrograde.
Instructions can sound simple. Expectations can seem reasonable. But the cost of taking the same action is different for every person. What takes one person five minutes may require someone else an hour of preparation, hesitation, and working through discomfort.
This can create frustration between bosses and employees, partners, friends, and family members. Someone asking for an action may be projecting what it would cost them onto the person being asked.
And the same thing can happen internally, through expectations about what you should be doing.
Sometimes that cost is connected to identity. Sometimes we want the result, but we don’t want to identify as the person who repeatedly takes the actions required to get there.
Because change requires repeated action. You don’t just poof and become. And the cost of doing something once can be very different from the cost of doing it every single day.
This week, consider what’s actually being negotiated beneath the resistance. Is it the time? The effort? Or what taking that action seems to say about who you are?
