Maybe there is no right road (Eris opposes Venus)
We spend so much time trying to make the right choice. Pick the right road. Say the right thing. Change in the right way. Be the person who gets it. And then sometimes we look around and think: Why am I the one being asked to change when everybody else gets to stay exactly where they are? There is an enormous amount of emotional, mental, and even physical labor wrapped up in trying to make ourselves “right” for other people.
This week Venus, the Goddess of beauty, opposes Eris, the Goddess of truth, and I think their story gives us another way to look at all of this. Eris exposes what is true. She throws the golden apple into the room and suddenly vanity, competition, hierarchy, hurt, and everything hiding underneath the surface becomes visible. But Eris also exposes herself. Her truth reveals the pain of being left out.
I imagine if Venus had been there in the room, picking up Eris’s apple...
Venus would have responded very differently and not fought with anyone over "who is the fairest of them all."
Venus would have seen the beauty in Eris and the apple. She would have picked it up and given a piece to everyone in the room, including Eris.
There would be no Trojan War.
