What Are You Seeking — and Are You Blocking It? 🔦

This week, Mercury is finally direct and re-entering Sagittarius. We’re crossing a threshold between Scorpio, the sign that holds transformation, and Sagittarius, the sign that goes looking for it.
Which brings us to the real question of the moment:
What are you seeking?
And why does seeking the thing sometimes prevent you from actually receiving it?
How was your Mercury retrograde?
For most of November, Mercury moved backward through the zodiac — which is astrology’s way of pulling us back into our unfinished business. Every retrograde is a different kind of mirror, but this one had the sharpness of that magnified hotel mirror with bright white lights. The one that shows everything. Every flaw, every detail, every truth you weren’t ready to see.
So it’s worth pausing here, in this first week of December, and honestly reflecting on what that mirror showed you.
- What happened in November that you want to carry forward?
- What surfaced that you wish you could set down or release?
- What did Mercury make you revisit… and why?
Scorpio → Sagittarius: From Transformation to Meaning
As Mercury leaves Scorpio this week and enters Sagittarius, the energy shifts from transformation to knowledge, perspective, and meaning-making. This is a delicate place inside the soul because we love to pretend that knowing equals doing. But there is always a gap.
Someone can know everything and still not be able to act.
You can read every book on basketball… but until you actually get on the court, you don’t know a thing. That’s the folly — assuming anything happens in a vacuum. It doesn’t.
Wisdom requires both:
- Information, and
- Embodiment
That’s when transformation becomes real.
The Butterfly Metaphor We Forget
A butterfly becomes a butterfly only once. It never stops being a caterpillar in its soul, but its spirit is something new.
Yet so many of us want the emotional high of transformation again and again. We want that moment of shedding the old self… every month.
But imagine a butterfly refusing to fly because all it remembers is how to crawl. Imagine it walking around the garden trying to “cocoon” again with wings, hoping a second set of wings will appear to fix the first set.
It can’t.
The work now is learning how to use the wings it already has.
And that’s the hardest part of growth — embodying what we prayed for.
A Moment in the Gym
The other day I ran into a girl at the gym who noticed my tattoo and started talking astrology. She had no idea I was an astrologer. She mentioned Mercury retrograde, and I asked her how she was handling it.
She told me she was setting boundaries and letting go, and that it hurt.
And I said, “That’s the part no one tells you. It hurts to embody, to become, to grow — up until it doesn’t.”
This is the tender spot so many of us misunderstand. We think expansion means things get easier or clearer. But it’s more like becoming a butterfly without knowing you have wings yet. You’re flapping around in the dark, trying to figure out who you are now.
Mercury’s Reminder: You Can’t Skip Stages
As Mercury moves direct, it reminds us that growth is not random — and none of the stages can be skipped.
Sometimes you have to look back to understand how to move forward.

Mercury’s Reminder: You Can’t Skip Stages
As Mercury moves direct, it reminds us that growth is not random — and none of the stages can be skipped.
Sometimes you have to look back to understand how to move forward.
This is especially true as we approach the Winter Solstice, when the energy naturally quiets and consolidates. December asks us to gather ourselves inward, to take inventory, and to get honest about the truth we’re living.

Weekly AI Prompt:
"Mercury retrograded from 6°49’ Sagittarius to 20°59’ Scorpio between November 9–28. Using only my house cusps from Table 2 in the Natal Chart Navigator, identify which house this Mercury retrograde moved through in my chart and whether it made any major aspects to my natal planets (conjunction, sextile, square, trine, inconjunct, opposition, or any exact semi-square). Based on the house and aspects, what lesson was I being asked to learn again, and what is one clear piece of advice to help me embody this wisdom instead of repeating the same pattern?"
